The three websites I used to conduct my research:
1. the new york times
This website is credible due to it having an author that is able to be reached and is still being supported to this year. The website also has at least three links that work proving that it is credible.
2. PSYCHOLOGY and society
This page is a ".org" which means that it is most likely credible. This PDF file is also credible due to it being a report by several PhD students who are also able to be reached via e-mail. The page also list a set of references to show where they got their research from. The links on the page are also working showing that it is a credible website.
3. Times Higher education
This article is credible due to its recent posting date and how the author can be contacted. The website also is till being updated due to the 2014 at the bottom of the article.
The findings!
Did Hitler have any mental illnesses?
Website #1 suggested that Hitler had many mental problems, but they weren't considered to be mental illnesses. These problems that he had consisted of paranoia, delusions, and defenses that "could fill a psychiatry textbook," (Website #1). The site also claims that Hitler complained that he suffered from issues such as abdominal spasms, buzzing and ringing in his ears, and inflammation of the arteries. This information of Hitler's health issues concludes that he didn't have any mental illnesses except for paranoia but the next website takes a more psychological view on it.
Website #2 takes a more psychological view on Hitler's problems. Like the first website, it says that Hitler suffered from paranoia, but this PDF said that he had a narcissistic personality disorder as well. These illnesses lead the authors to believe that it is what drove Hitler to carry out his horrific acts of violence against the Jews. The PDF sums itself all up by saying that Hitler had deeply destructive psychological features.
Website #3 said that Hitler tried to live a very healthy lifestyle. However, later in his life, he turned to drugs. The article says that even though they caused problems to Hitler, it is not what caused the violence acts towards the people. The article then finishes up by saying that his actions were purely through his own mind and not through mental illnesses.
